• Find a mentor (try ACP).
• Set up your LinkedIn account (you can upgrade to LinkedIn Premium for free when you get closer to your transition date).
• Start building your network if you haven’t already.
• Meet with your local Army TAP counselor and begin the TAP process.
• Do a career self assessment (or do an Individual Transition Plan as part of TAP process).
• Begin exploring career options and identify potential career fields.
• Document job-related training received in the military.
• Crosswalk your military skill set to civilian skills.
• Establish a USAJOBS account and research potential federal employment opportunities.
