COL (Ret.) Julian Bond

COL (Ret.) Julian Bond from Santa Clarita, California, commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army in 1991 after joining the ROTC in college. He commanded at the company, battalion, brigade, and installation level and served as a senior staff officer before retiring after 29 years in the Army in 2018.
After his Army retirement, Bond continued his service as a civilian as an Acting Associate Director and Chief Supply Chain Officer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2018 to 2019 and as an Administrator for the Veterans Home of California - Ventura for the California Department of Veterans Affairs from 2019 to 2023. In 2023, he was appointed as the Inspector General of the California Military Department.
Bond received the 2022 Spotlight on Excellence Award from the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) for his work at CalVets. The award is a peer-nominated honor given to one of the 1.5 million CalPERs members in California that recognizes the outstanding contributions of an exemplary public agency, program or employee.
According to Bond, "I want to continue serving. I have passion to continue public service." He said "I believe in serving 24 hours, 7 days a week."
Service runs in Bond's family, as well. He has two sons who are currently serving in the Army.
