Staying connected to family, friends and health information is an integral part of Americans' daily lives. Many of our veterans and military families stay connected and get their information online. Did you know the Army has several social media sites that help connect veterans and deliver news, information, government services, health resources, and opportunities for social support right to their handheld or laptop device? Below is a list of the top six ways to stay connected to the Army using Social Media.*
Get real-time information, news and military topics of interest from the US Army Twitter page, all in 140 characters. For those unfamiliar with Twitter, this online social networking service enables users to send and read 140-character messages, called "tweets." Registered users can read and post tweets, but those who are unregistered can only read them. You can follow the Army twitter handle; @USArmy or read the tweets by clicking on this link: Twitter.com/USArmy.
If you love watching informative videos, YouTube is for you. YouTube allows for you to watch videos about any and everything including the US Army. Video topics include challenges, training and "Everything that makes the Army Great"
The U.S. Army Facebook page lists the latest Army news, videos and photos highlighting Soldiers around the globe. Check Facebook daily for new content. Their page can be found here: Facebook.com/USArmy
The Army Flickr site has thousands of Army images available right at your fingertips. If you want to see what the US Army is up to, this is the site for you. There is no requirement to create an account but if you decide to, Flickr has one of the best photo management and sharing applications online. Their application allows you to make your photos available online and also enables you to organize those photos too!
The Army Live Blog is the Army’s official blog where you will find unique Army stories, current news, videos, and photos highlighting our Soldiers around the globe and commentary from Army Senior Leaders. Check out their latest blog here: http://armylive.dodlive.mil/
The Army Echoes blog is your one stop shop to military retirement-related news and benefits information. New articles are posted multiple times a week to keep you informed and it’s freely accessible to the public without a user name or password. Army Retirement Services will provide a wide range of retirement-related news and information of interest to Retired Soldiers and their families from the U. S. Army, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies. Readers may subscribe to the blog using the Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feature on the blog that will send you newly posted articles.
