Exchange Offers Medical Services

The Exchange is working to expand medical offerings for military communities.
Currently, the Exchange has dental clinics at Fort Hood, Texas (pictured) and Fort Irwin, Calif., with a third location opening in May at Fort Stewart, Ga.
Such clinics are also in the works for Fort Eustis, Va., as well as Luke AFB, Ariz.

“We just obtained the signature from the new Army surgeon general, Maj. Gen. Nadja West, authorizing us to operate dental clinics at all Army installations,” said Jason Woods, Exchange program manager for healthcare services. There are four more Army installations under consideration that we hope to obtain support for in 2016.
“The Exchanges have served military communities worldwide for 50+ years with 100 optical shops and more than 40 optometry clinics, Woods said.
The Exchange also introduced Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as a new healthcare business concept in 2015 with the opening of the first location at Fort Belvoir, Va. A second DME location will open 1 March 2016 at Fort Bliss and the growth goal is to open an additional 15 locations in fiscal 2016.
“We are continually looking for new ways to support the needs of our military communities through innovative healthcare services,” Woods said.
Future healthcare initiatives under consideration includes Chiropractic Care and therapeutic services such as Cryotherapy.
